Not Just a Catholic Problem

This piece from today's National Post shows that, when it comes to sexual abuse, no church in America holds a monopoly. The most interesting statistic is that, in the United States, children are just as likely to be abused by other children in a church setting as they are to be abused by a priest and they are far more likely to be abused by a lay volunteer than by a priest or another child. Another interesting statistic: despite the recent media coverage, reports of abuse by clergy have dropped from a high of 3% of churches reporting at least one allegation of sexual misconduct in 1994 to only 0.1% in 2000.
